“Color is the most important thing.” Natsuko’s artistic inspiration comes from the beauty found in nature—the gardens of Wave Hill, the rolling landscapes of Bronx parks—or the  life of Manhattan and Bronx streets, all of which she conveys in bright oils. Born in Tokyo, Ms. Takami has called the Bronx home for over 40 years. Although her mother was a famous Japanese artist, Natsuko postponed her own painting career until her two daughters finished graduate school.
